For Planet Strategy Lab has been years in the making. Our journey began when a group of friends from the RISE Management Innovation Lab at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), and the Berlin & Tokyo startup ecosystems came to a shared realisation:
Today’s wicked problems cannot be tackled alone. Yet, they present opportunities for forward-thinking organisations to do better and stay ahead. Motivated by this, we set out to an organisation that proves there is a promising space in between non-profit and for-profit models—organisations that redefine how we create value for the long run.
In June 2023, we founded For Planet Strategy Lab and have been evolving it ever since.

Today’s challenges cannot be solved alone. Our club assembles an inspiring group of people with diverse perspectives and shared values—to connect, reflect, and act. The Club multiplies the impact of the For Planet Strategy Lab. Its members come from a wide range of organisations, generations and locations.

As the green, digital, and social transitions are gaining momentum, we believe that organisations have a unique opportunity to stay ahead by evolving first. Proactively shaping these transitions requires organisations to view their context as an interconnected ecology rather than separate spheres. Only then can they identify the right questions to continue creating value in the future.

This is the essence of planetary perspectives, our powerful strategizing approach that treats technology, business and human-centricity as part of a larger system: the planet. Understanding what for planet means enables organisations to craft strategies in relation to non-human actors, such as bodies of water, resources but also AI-agents, alongside the hidden potential of human actors from in- and outside the organisation.

As a result, strategies no longer end up in a dusty drawer. Instead, they evolve into an iterative strategizing process that engages various actors in strategy work across time horizons to create new opportunities–for organisations, people and the planet.
